INTRODUCING FASHION DESIGNERS AWARD, POLAND
Young fashion designers contests are not just about rivalry and winning, but about a valuable experience for both contestants, jury and guests. Participants have opportunities to present their collections and what is most important for them to introduce themselves as designers to the world, and to see how the audience perceives their creations. Also, they receive feedback from the jury of experts, which could help them navigate further in their professional development. Furthermore, contests attract young fashion-oriented audience, therefore, expand the domain of their fashion perception. All of the above relates to Fashion Designers Award, the biggest contest for young designers in Poland. Founded in 2009 by Joanna Sokołowska-Pronobis, FDA has become the gate to the professional world of international and polish fashion for many emerging designers. Last ten editions were ten exceptional separate stories inside one book. Ten stories are abundant with many interesting personalities, among which are participants, also members of the jury, invited guests-celebrities, sponsors and long-standing partners, who has been accompanying and supporting FDA from the very first edition. FDA’s organizers believe, that despite the inevitable commercial aspect, the contest has preserved its soul: promotion of genuineness, friendship in every relationship established and irresistible desire to explore new realms of the fashion world. Now it is the time to open new decade, 11th chapter, which will be another successful beginning of a new story.
Among Members of FDA Jury are the best Polish designers, stylists and show business celebrities. Over the years the founder of FDA, Joanna Sokołowska-Pronobis, has connected and established friendly congenial cooperation with George Chakra (Lebanese haute couture fashion designer); Georges Hobeika (Lebanese fashion designer of haute couture and ready-to-wear clothing); Ricardo Preto (Portuguese fashion designer with a national and international career); Roberto Musso (Italian fashion designer); Anne Sofie Madsen (Danish avant-garde fashion designer); Alexandra Moura (Portuguese contemporary avant-garde fashion designer); Yaron Minkowski (Israel's leading fashion designer) and many others. Most of them invited FDA’s winners to serve internships in their studios. Such an opportunity is a great start in their fashion careers, as young designers gain a priceless experience to work side by side with professionals.
On June 4, the Jury of FDA 11th edition shortlisted 30 young fashion designers, who were the most convincing and creative in their interpretation of this year contest’s theme - My City My Energy. The contestants took guests on a thrilling journey to the places that inspire them the most: Warsaw, Amsterdam, Miami, Tokyo, New York, Singapore, London, Paris, Berlin, as well as imaginary cities of the future, cities of dreams and ecological cities. Gala FINALE of the 11th FDA will be held in October in Warsaw and it promises to be a very interesting and exciting show as the collections are very versatile.
