IYDC is paused for this year
International Young Designers Contest – IYDC will be paused in this year. This decision has not been a one easy to make for the Organizing Committee.
Last year despite the situation caused by global pandemic, IYDC Organizing committee put a lot of efforts to re-format expeditiously the Contest by arranging the shipment of the finalist collections to Kyiv, organizing the shooting and production of video presentations, and releasing online 19 video reels of finalists’ collections. The virtual format was also adopted to organize the work of the international jury experts. The organizers believed the executed format was the appropriate response to the situation, which allowed continued support to the young designers in the uncertain and challenging year.
Taking into consideration the lessons learned from online edition, this year the organizing committee has been looking to adopt IYDC framework to the phygital format, to offer the solutions when the young designers will benefit more not only by presenting their collections to the jury and public online, but also gaining new professional experience and skills, as well as networking. “Unfortunately, the lack of funding and resources does not allow us to make the next step in the development of this internationally reputable contest. The Organizing committee has decided we are just not willing to compromise the high standards of its organization and delivery. – said IYDC project lead, Victoria Kharchenko. – Unfortunately, this was a last-minute decision and we tried our best, hoping that we still could put it together for this fall. However, our goals and objectives are not just to have “a check-mark” for releasing online videos of collections and holding media conference. Rather, to ensure that each component of this international event would bring high value to all finalists, as well as to the international network of partnering organizations. IYDC organizing committee will take this extra time to prepare the best new edition in 2022 and to explore available innovative formats.”
