International Young Designers Contest-2019

July 6-8, 2019, Kyiv

One of the largest and most influential international fashion events in Eastern and Central Europe will take place in Kyiv, the second International Young Designers Contest.

Organizers of the contest are Ukrainian Fashion Council and IED – Istituto Europeo di Design.

International Young Designers Contest facilitates cross border exchange of the best practices in the development of young talents and generates strong interest from the prestigious worldwide fashion media to emerging talents of the Region.

Designers from 11 countries: Georgia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine, and Czech Republic will take part in the Contest. Participants are the winners of national young designers’ contests, festivals, and competitions. Each of them has already proved to be one of the most daring creative young minds, representing their own countries.

International Young Designers Contest is an event that attracts attention to Ukraine and Kyiv as an influential center for creativity, innovation and the development of young talented designers from different European countries.

This year the competition schedule includes Fashion Visual Art Residence cross-disciplinary projects, Kyiv Fashion Summit, an open lecture Shape of color and a show of finalists.

The open lecture on the fashion design and visual arts – Shape of color by Professor, Creative Director of IED – Istituto Europeo di Design and jury member Giovanni Ottonello – will be held on July 6, at the conference hall of the official partner of IYDC – Aloft Kiev Hotel. The lecture is free of charge; everyone can visit it by registering through the link.

Fashion Visual Art Residence will take place on July 7. FVAR is a project aiming to adapt and develop the practice of collaborative creation of fashion visual content. The unique value of visual content is created through the combination of looks of young designers from different countries with a creative perspective and authentic ideas of young photographers. Nine photographers from Ukraine and Europe will combine individual images of designers to show how diverse, tolerant, and talented is a modern multicultural environment.

On July 7-8, Kyiv Fashion Summit will take place, the main event of which will be the round table “Ukraine NOW: the role of creative industries in promoting the country.” This is a professional event, that brings together representatives of international media, foreign delegations of the IYDC participating countries and Ukrainian leading fashion editions. The speakers of the round table will be representatives of creative companies and government institutions that will demonstrate successful cases of international cultural projects. Masha Tsukanova will moderate the discussion. The proficiency of international participants will make it possible to present the developed international experience in building the brand of the country as well as present programs for media, which will facilitate the creation of an information field for the promotion of creative industries of the participating countries.

The Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine will

support the round table.

On July 8, Gala catwalk show of finalists of International Young Designers Contest will be held in Mystetskyi Arsenal. In the final, the international authoritative jury will determine the one and only winner of the competition.

The prize fund of the contest is $ 10,000 and consists of a grant for the brand development and one studying course in IED – Istituto Europeo di Design.
